Weekend Box Club Review

Weekend Box Club Review

Wowzers! Look what the Weekend Box Club gang have sent us!   It’s a box with whole loads of fun.  It’s our second box from them and the Little Miss is well over the moon when we got our box.  The first box review is –>HERE<–

As parents, we do our best to support and provide our child’s foundation for future learning.  That’s where arts and crafts comes in very important as it engage a mixture of learning styles.  Learning through fun in there is a HUGE factor and benefits are countless from fine motor skills  to problem solving.  But, not many of us  knows a lot of arty crafty activities and that’s where you need Weekend Box Club where Andy and his gang will send you a box of activities fortnightly for something to do over the weekend.  Inside the box is something to eat/drink, something to make, something green and something to explore.  Exciting, ha!  Andy and the gang does a brilliant job. Promise.

something green

So, our box this time is taking us to central Mexico with the Aztec theme.  What a way to introduce culture and history to your child.

For something green, it is where you use your recycling materials or some seeds to plant.
We’ve got some kitchen and loo roll tubes for Aztec parrots-the rest of the materials needed including the powder paint are supplied. Olivia is loving it and I couldn’t even touch to help.

See how much  fun she had with her Aztec Parrots doing some puppeteering:

Something to Explore:  Now, now…who doesn’t love some sensory and exploration activity.  The Little Miss here does.  We get to do some Aztec Prints and when it include some paints…it sure is a hoot! Powder paints, sugar papers and strings are supplied but, we even use our own yarn/wool so we could do more prints. Cool ha!
something to make

Something to make: This a craft kit where all the craft materials are included in the box.
I love how it made me and Olivia being occupied and having fun for hours.  This is our first mosaic craft and we did struggle to make our shape but it’s fun and one little lady if proud of it.  If you’re still with us,  you’ll know why we have to make our Aztec coasters for.

Something to eat/ drink:
We’ve got a secret ingredient from the box to make a chocolatey treat for the Aztec empress and this is where the chocolate monster kicks in by sneaking some chocolates while I am prepping up but, how can I ever complain when it’s written in the instruction to try the chocolates to see if it’s okay and ummm…can I really stop the empress?
20150125_152646 All of the above activities comes with supper easy to follow instructions and illustrations. The “inside” part of the box is a certificate for your child to colour in and some stickers to stick to the posters when your child finish each activity.
